Seven Blast Players Named to GDFL All-Star Team

 

Memphis,Tenn – Seven Blast players have been named to Gridiron Football League All-Star team, the GDFL announced on their website Wednesday. Blast players selected include wide receiver Julius Black , Special Teams  Lawrence Miller, defensive tackles Ivory Watson & Kiomotti Ewing Jr. , linebacker Charles Conway & Antonio Meyers, and defensive back Robert Arnold.

J.Black (5-8, 180, ) played in six games in 2014, hauling in 14 passes for 373 yards and 3 touchdowns and 2 two point Conversions and had 2 interception on Defense. He also returned one interception for a touchdown en route to earning GDFL weekly league honors. Since suiting up for the Blast, J.Black has become a first-time All-Star selection and has garnered the League’s Most Outstanding Weekly Player Award in 2014. He is electrifying player that has blazing speed and will allow the Blast to stretch the field for the 2015 campaign.

Antonio Meyers (5-9, 211) Started the Season off with an eye injury unrelated to football had to sit out first half of the 2014 season he lead the Blast with 66 Tackles 3 sacks 4 fumble  recovery  2 forced fumbles returning 1 for a TD and 1 interceptions this past season.

Charles Conway (5-11, 237) spent half the 2014 season in rehab after breaking his leg. In 4 games with the team, Conway racked up 26 tackles , 1 int and a blocked kick. He has earned GDFL All-Star nods at Linebacker with the Memphis Blast.

Ivory Watson(6-4, 310) collected 45 tackles, 4 sack 16 tackle for loss and 2 fumbles in five games as a rookie with the Blast he is a two way player who plays on the  offensive line as well. Watson is one of the most physical players the Blast has seen since the likes of Rodney White or Charles Christopher  and both of those players are legends stated “Head Coach Carlos Alexander”.

Robert Arnold (6-1, 195)  He has logged 30 tackles and and 6 interceptions with the Memphis Blast during the 2014 season.He is a shut down corner that must teams throw away from.

Kiomotti Ewing Jr (6-3, 335) collected 24 tackles, 2 sack 10 tackle for loss and 1 forced fumbles in three games  he is a two way player who plays on the offensive line as well. Kiomotti saw limited time last year due to personal issues,but he has been a force with the Blast for three years and we expect him to be back in full swing for 2015,stated “Head Coach Carlos Alexander”.

The GDFL All-American National All -Star team will Host the APDFL All-Stars on Saturday February 28, 2015 at Paul Bryant High School located 6315 Mary Harmon Bryant Dr., Cottondale, AL 35453 at 1:00 pm Central Standard Time.
