Blast Derails Tri City

QB Joshua Dixon throws three TD passes in victory

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Memphis Blast traveled to Middle Tennessee and came back home victorious as they defeated the Tri City Diesel 27-6 in Gridiron Developmental Football League action in Clarksville, Tennessee. Tri City came out fast scoring the game’s first TD. The score was set up on a botched punt by Blast punter Evan Rodgers deep in Blast territory at the 15 yard line. On the ensuing kickoff, Blast returner J.C. Austin scored on a 95 yard return to his team up 7-6, a lead they would not relinquish.

Memphis went back to business in the second quarter. QB Joshua Dixon hit WR Jay Black on a 45 yard pass to the Diesel five yard line setting up a TD run on the very next play by RB Robert Harris. The score gave Memphis a 13-6 lead that they held going into the half.

nd 57 yards later the Blast was up 20-7 and took full control of the game. Dixon put the icing on the cake combining with WR Robert Fields on a 62 yard pass to close out the scoring.

The Blast defense was solid all night causing six turnovers, forcing six three and outs and allowing their lone score on a short drive. Memphis will be back in action on Saturday when they take on the Crescent City Kings at home.
