BLAST CONTINUE TO ADD TALENT TO ROSTER

Memphis,Tenn)- The Memphis Blast have announced the signing of two linemen in advance of their upcoming 2018 season. The Blast have added offensive lineman Marcus Gordon (6’6, 330) who has NFL, CFL, and Arena Football League Experience and defensive lineman Eric Starks (6’4, 340) University of Cincinnati. Both players are expected to make an immediate impact with the Blast this season. “Our goal is to bring a Championship to the City of Memphis, and we are committed to putting the best product on the field for our fans. I look forward to seeing both of these talented players in action on Saturday’s nights,” said Blast Head Coach Antwone Moore.

Marcus Gordon comes to the Blast after spending time with the Erie Explosion & Kansas City Command of the Arena Football League, Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League, and the Denver Broncos of the NFL. Following a standout college career Gordon signed with the Broncos as a college free agent on April 27, 2009. Gordon started all 12 games in his only season at Kentucky State after transferring from the University of Louisville. Was a two-year starter at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan., before his time at Louisville. Received honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference recognition at Highland C.C. in 2004 and was voted the team’s best offensive lineman. He attended Westside High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he earned all-region and all-conference honors in addition to receiving the team’s Best Lineman Award.

Eric Starks comes to the Blast after spending time with the Chicago Slaughter & Dayton Silverbacks of the Indoor Football League, Kings Comets Mid-Continental Football League, and the Racine Raiders of the MSFL. Starks played his collegiate ball at the University of Cincinnati his freshman & sophomore years but returned to Memphis citing personal family matters. Starks can play both sides of the ball he is a strong run-blocker, and has worked to improve his skill set in the passing game. Not only that he has all the physical tools needed to be a great defensive tackle – he’s got quick feet and excellent hands –  he’s also got the intangibles needed to be a great player.  He attended East High School in Memphis, Tenn.
